Tidbits 6/4/2019

Got a couple of items in this edition of the news. Maybe some fundamental changes in the web site structure and some recent posting to Facebook.

  • The software that I use to create and modify this web site has not seen much love in recent years. I am fearful that the next update to macOS may break it again (they did fix the problem last year). In any case, I have been looking around for another program to use that is as easy to use as this one. In any case, the web site will eventually have to be rebuilt. If you have any ideas on what you would like to see or what can be eliminated, I am open to your suggestions. Email me at: george at floridaagility dot com.
  • The May AKC minutes authorized a few changes: https://s3.amazonaws.com/cdn-origin-etr.akc.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/20160400/Board-Minutes-May-2019-FINAL-PUBLISHED.pdf
    • Effective June 1, head halters are allowed.
    • Effective October 1, a dog may be entered in both preferred and regular classes at the same trial. A separate entry is required for each. (I can see this if you are moving a dog to preferred and just need a few Q’s to complete a title in the regular class)
    • Effective October 1, a dog may be entered different heights at the same trial. Again, this requires a separate entry for each jump height. I can see this if someone is looking to do international competition and wants to run the premier classes at the international height but the regular classes at the AKC height. Outside of that I can not think of a reason to jump different heights outside of the regular/preferred above.
    • Effective January 1, weave poles are required to be tapeless and the poles can be of alternating solid colors. If the poles are of a single color, they must be striped (paint or extruded in the PVC).
  • USDAA published a guide “Preparing for Your First USDAA Trial” http://usdaa.com/article.cfm?newsID=3904&fbclid=IwAR07W2xcsge6uRCHVMlwCmiOAGKr0KcSPJ-muRSU2z9HfmClzM1f3SBoCyc
