Tidbits 5/29/2018

Thanks to the new Bratty Paws facility in Punta Gorda and the Turner Center in Arcadia, South West Florida will be the place to be for agility this Summer. There are also some evening CPE trials up North (Ocala area), some UKC indoor trials in the Tampa-Lakeland area and DACOF.

Bratty Paws has announced that they will be hosting UKI trials in their facility in July (6-7) and August (TBD - I am guessing one of the first two weekends). Calusa is also hosting a UKI trial in July (14-15) at Arcadia and in September (21-23) at Bratty Paws. These are in addition to the six sets of AKC trials held in Arcadia from June through September held by Calusa and OTCPBC.

Sarasota is also moving their September AKC trial from Palmetto to Bratty Paws.

This weekend, the Papillon Club of America is holding their agility speciality at Bratty Paws.

I travel to both Arcadia and Bratty Paws via US-17 from just above Wauchula. Last summer there were two major construction projects along the way. Both were scheduled for completion “Summer 2018”. The first was a rerouting of US-17 to bypass the “business district” in Zolfo Springs. That project is complete. The second is to complete the widening of US-17 (about a 6 mile section) to a four lane divided highway. That project is not yet complete. There is one section of the north bound lanes that is not complete yet. That section has two way traffic on the southbound lanes and the northbound traffic has to do the median crossover.
